Roses In Concrete

Growing Beauty out of Hard Places

Roses In Concrete (RIC) is a 501(c)(3) status nonprofit organization that provides curriculum-based mentorship to today's youth, or the young at heart, by focusing on self-advocacy, workplace readiness, post-secondary education, and career readiness. RIC offers motivational information and empowering experiences to assist youth in avoiding barriers that can hinder their progress in life. RIC believes that youth are capable of extraordinary accomplishments once they realize the future relevance of what they are learning; and will exceed expectations when challenged and stimulated.

Roses In Concrete is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young people that are either falling through the cracks at school or are victims of various barriers to success.

Roses In Concrete mentors establish a positive rapport and working relationship with the youth and his/her family. Mentors track students served, services delivered and outcomes achieved.

Tupac Amaru Shakur

“Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.."

You Are Welcomed

Diversity enriches us as a collective and as individuals.

Equity means that all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, zip code, health and ability status, or any other consideration have equal and inviolable dignity, value, and opportunity to participate justly, fairly, and fully in all dimensions of civic and economic life to prosper and to reach their full potential.

Inclusion is about the actions we take ach day. It starts with a conscious decision to check our own biases at every level of our thinking and feeling. The only way we can thrive as a community is to work together that represent individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, self-expression, and talents.

At RIC, we take the broadest possible view of diversity. We value the visible and invisible qualities that make you who you are. We welcome that every person brings a unique perspective and experience to advance our mission and progress our fight for the health, education, and well-being of every young person in our communities. We strive to include diversity, equity, and inclusion practices at the center of our daily work.
